The Elect
We should begin our survey of Election with the fact that the word "Elect" is one of Christ's Titles:
“Behold My Servant, Whom I uphold; Mine Elect, in Whom My Soul delighteth; I have put My Spirit upon Him: He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause His Voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed shall He not break, and the smoking flax shall He not quench: He shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till He have set judgment in the Earth: and the isles shall wait for His Law.” -- Isaiah 42:1-4 KJV
GOD The Father has elected the Man Christ Jesus to the highest political position to bring justice and uncontested truth to the Earth upon His Return.
I will also say that, in both Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, the words "elect" (from which we receive the word "select") and "chosen" are translated from the same word (Hebrew bachir, Greek eklektos). In other words..."elect" and "chosen" are synonymous.
In one way this makes my task a lot easier, since we've already examined the meaning of "chosen" in Part Four of this series...yet in another way it doesn't. For Americans like me, with our national experience in a semi-representative semi-democratic form of government, the word "elect" (elected, election, electors, electoral college, etc.) takes on a level of meaning the Biblical Writers and their translators may not have intended. We Americans suffer under the delusion that, at least in the case of the American Experiment, power rises from the groundswell of the people governed...
...this has NEVER been true in the entire history of mankind, and it certainly isn't true today. The modern brainwashing tactics of the American media has fooled us into believing that two or more contradictory "facts" can indeed coexist in the same mind.
For example: on the one hand we American citizens have been led to believe that, through the election process, we are the ones who choose our politicians; on the other hand we attend church every weekend and rejoice in the Biblical truth of GOD's Sovereignty, knowing that it is He Who sets up and deposes rulers...placing over the greatest of kingdoms the worst of men (Daniel 4:17,25,32,34,35).
So...which is it? Both cannot be true. We embrace one because it feeds our national pride and simultaneously cling to the other to flatter a God we do not take seriously...or seriously enough.
The Truth is this: a small cabal of individuals rule the world; their master is the Devil (1 John 5:19) and his Masters are the GODHEAD.
Evil is a tool in the Hand of a Holy GOD, used to accomplish His Good Purpose (Genesis 50:20; Romans 8:28).
Now i ask you: Do you believe that GOD would use any tool He didn't fashion Himself?
“Forming light, and preparing darkness, Making peace, and preparing evil, I [am] YHWH, doing all these things.’” -- GOD, Isaiah 45:7 YLT98
“Why causest Thou us to wander, O YHWH, from Thy Ways? Thou hardenest our heart from Thy Fear, Turn back for Thy servants' sake, The tribes of Thine inheritance.” -- Isaiah 63:17 YLT98
“Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.” -- the Apostle Paul, Romans 11:25 ESV
Can GOD create and use evil without being evil? The answer must be Yes...to think otherwise would be blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which is unforgivable (Matthew 12:24-32).
The problem is: we creatures believe that WE ARE AS REAL AS GOD IS. We never say it or even think it; it's just one of those axioms that sit in our subconscious, continuing unobserved and unaddressed. Once brought under the cruel light of Reason and Logic, the idea is quite hilarious!
If i were to author a fictitious story in which one person murders another, would you have me arrested and imprisoned?
"If we're NOT as real as GOD, why would He go to all this trouble? Why would He subject Himself to the Suffering of the Cross?" I have a theory...but i've said enough for now.
I suspect, Dear Reader, that when you find the answer, you may find yourself falling in love with Him all over again.
It remains that no created soul has the right to either criticize or judge GOD...He is simply and exponentially out of our league.
In Part Eight we'll continue our walk together on The Narrow Way from GOD's Acts in Eternity to GOD's Acts in the present life of the believer.
